The curtain officially rises on the Animalis Fabula Film Festival (#AniFab25) with the first screening block that promises pure, imaginative delight. We invite you to join the You Love Animals Showcase - Block 1 - on Friday, November 28th, at 12:00 PM at the Woodlawn Theater. This block of short movies - mostly animated, is not just a collection of films; it's a vibrant, essential reminder of the power of animation and metaphor.
This is a rare opportunity, as two of the block's most inspired filmmakers will be in attendance for the ensuing Q&A and Filmmaker Meet & Greet following!
First, witness Reynard the Fox (8:12, FIA), the charming puppet animation that pits clever Reynard the Fox against the brute Bruin the Bear. We are thrilled to welcome director Maddy Pull from the UK to discuss her stunning work, created with support from academy award-winning Aardman Studios. Then, dive into the unique narrative of Dragon and Me: Prologue (20:36, FIA). Director Alexey Kashpersky will be joining us to discuss his powerful metaphorical short, which explores companionship and finding the extraordinary in the mundane.
The block sets a high bar, featuring international treasures like Masha and the Bear: The Lost World and The Forest Of The Honey Bees. Once the final credit rolls, stick around. You'll have the chance to meet both Maddy Pull and Alexey Kashpersky—two visionary directors who have crossed continents - to discuss their craft, their passion, and the global language of the animal story.
